At first glance, a weighted blanket seems like a pretty simple item to shop for. After all, it’s just a heavy blanket, right? Of course, if you’ve spent any time looking at what’s out there, you know that there are a ton of different weighted blanket brands to choose from. It can be so overwhelming to compare them all that you might find yourself needing…well, a calming “hug” from a big, comfy, anxiety-reducing blanket.

Hush
Just to save you some time, we’ll start with the best: the Hush weighted blanket.
OK, maybe we’re a little biased, but we put a lot of thought into designing our blankets and we think you’ll agree they’re the finest weighted blankets out there.
Hush Materials & Build
Many weighted blankets use glass “micro-beads” to fill their blankets. Micro-beads offer better weight distribution than plastic pellets or other alternative.
For the Hush, we used non-toxic glass sand instead. The tiny grains disperse throughout the blanket more evenly than larger pellets. They’re also made from glass material that transfers heat away from the body, helping the Hush weighted blanket to sleep cool.
Next up, the blanket filling: many other brands use a spray gun to fill their weighted blankets with a batting material. This material has a little cotton mixed in, so they call it “cotton weave.” It’s a quick and cheap method, and it’s also imprecise. It also often involves materials so toxic that workers have to wear PPE while filling the blanket. Even if it’s considered safe after it dries, that’s not something we want to sleep under – and we’re guessing you don’t either.
Instead, we use a unique fabric membrane within the Hush weighted blanket that acts like a spiderweb, keeping the glass sand in place. The sand and fabric membrane are sewn into over 100 mini squares, ensuring they stay put for even weight distribution all night long. We had to order a custom machine to accomplish all of this, but at Hush we don’t believe in cutting corners. We think you’ll agree the end result - a non-toxic, breathable, evenly weighted blanket - is well worth the extra attention.
The Hush built to last, too. In fact, one of our co-founders is still sleeping soundly with a prototype Hush weighted blanket from years ago!
Hush Sizes & Weights
We don’t just stand out with our commitment to quality. We also wanted to make the best weighted blanket for everyone, regardless of size. The Hush weighted blanket comes in a variety of sizes to fit any bed, from a twin all the way up to a California king.
Our blankets are designed to wrap around the whole bed. No matter how much you or your partner moves around at night, you don’t have to worry about the Hush slipping off the edge.
Most other weighted blankets — including competitors listed below — have fewer sizes. The sizes they do offer will either swallow your queen mattress or barely touch the edges of your king. Our wide range of sizes will fit your bed perfectly.

Hush Blanket Options
We make the Hush weighted blanket in a few styles to meet a variety of people’s needs.
The Hush Classic is the weighted blanket that started it all. It’s made with a type of fabric called minky, which is often used to make baby blankets. With super soft threading throughout, the Hush Classic is one snuggly blanket. Plus, it’s easy to keep clean: the machine washable cover is secured to the inner blanket by zippers on three sides.
Hot sleepers will love the Hush Iced 2.0 blanket. The cooling cover is made of 100% organic bamboo, which is incredibly breathable and draws heat away from the body. The fabric is also 100% organic, sustainably and carefully sourced bamboo viscose. Since bamboo is naturally antimicrobial, the Hush Iced 2.0 is also ideal for people with allergies or sensitivities.
If you can’t decide between the Hush Classic or the Hush Iced 2.0, the 2-in-1 Bundle is the best of both worlds. You can put the extra soft Hush Classic cover on in the cooler months and the incredibly breathable Hush Iced 2.0 cover on in the warmer ones. The covers are easy to unzip from the inner weighted layer, so you can switch them out whenever the mood strikes.
We also offer the Hush Throw, a smaller, 8lb version of our weighted blanket that’s perfect for snuggling on the couch. One side of the Throw is super soft microfiber, while the other is fleece. It has the same even weight distribution and non-toxic materials as our larger blankets, but in a more portable size.

Hush Price, Trial, & Warranty
The Hush weighted blanket is built to last years, not months, from the best materials we could find. While our prices are on the higher end compared to some other weighted blankets, you’d be hard-pressed to find a cheaper one without compromising on quality. The Hush blanket starts at CAD $269 for the 15 lb Twin and goes up to CAD $329 for the 35 lb King. We’re a proudly Canadian company and we ship free throughout Canada and the US.

Gravid
Gravid is one of the newer entrants in the weighted blanket space, but has been popular since their launch in 2018. Let’s take a look at what the Gravid is made of and see how it measures up.
Gravid Materials & Build
Like the Hush, Gravid uses non-toxic glass beads instead of plastic in their weighted blanket. These beads are larger than the glass sand we use, so they may not distribute as evenly in the blanket. To prevent bunching, Gravid places these beads into over 300 double-stitched, 4 inch by 4 inch pockets. They use a 7-layer construction within these pockets, though they don’t mention what those layers are made of. Depending on the material, the Gravid blanket may be a bit more likely to trap heat.
Gravid uses Tencel Lyocell for the inner fabric of their blankets. Lyocell is a eucalyptus-based fabric that’s both breathable and sustainable, which is a big plus. Their inner blanket is machine-washable, which is rare among weighted blankets.
Some reviews mention the Gravid weighted blanket can sometimes develop issues over time. Despite Gravid’s assurances otherwise, people have mentioned the blanket can sometimes leak its glass beads after several months to a year of use. They also mention that, despite the pockets, the beads can move around within the blanket. It’s hard to tell how much this has to do with customers machine-washing the blanket or the build quality itself.
Gravid Sizes & Weights
Gravid offers three sizes for their weighted blankets: Twin, Queen, and King. These sizes aren’t the same standard bed measurements, though. Reviews mention that in many cases the Gravid weighted blanket won’t cover the whole bed. Weight options are limited to 15-20lb options for the Twin/Queen and a 35lb option for the King size.
If you’re sharing your weighted blanket with a partner or just want that cozy, tucked-in feeling from a blanket that drapes over the edge of the bed, you may be better off with a larger blanket.
Gravid Blanket Options
Gravid offers their weighted blankets in two styles.
The first is a Microplush Cover, which is made from soft microfiber. It features a quilted design, and many reviews say it’s very soft and comfortable. It’s machine-washable and attaches to the inner blanket with a zipper on all four sides, which makes cleaning easy.
Gravid also offers the Breeze Cooling Cover for their weighted blanket. This cover material is made of the same renewable Tencel Lyocell as their inner fabric. Similar to bamboo viscose, it’s a moisture-wicking, breathable material that promotes air flow. Reviews mention that Breeze Cooling Cover does feel much cooler than the Microplush material, making it a great option for hot sleepers.
Gravid Price, Trial, & Warranty
Gravid’s weighted blankets range in price from $229 to $349, depending on the size and style of the blanket. A bundle, which includes the blanket, both covers, and a sleep mask, runs from $279 to $400. Gravid is based in Toronto and ships throughout Canada and the USA for free.
Gravid doesn’t offer a sleep trial or warranty for their weighted blanket, but they do have a 14-day return window. If you order a Gravid, you should decide quickly whether or not you want to keep it.
Gravity Blankets
Gravity Blankets is arguably the most well-known name in weighted blankets. Besides sales numbers, this is apparent from the multiple references on Gravid’s website that they aren’t affiliated with Gravity Blankets! Let’s take a look at the details behind this famous blanket.
Gravity Materials & Build
The Gravity Blanket, like the Gravid, uses non-toxic glass beads to give the blanket its deep pressure stimulating weight. They don’t say how small the beads are, but they’re likely similar in size to Gravid’s, around 1mm. The glass beads are suspended in a polyester batting that’s inserted into the blanket, likely using the spray method we mentioned earlier. This batting helps keep the beads from moving around.
Like most weighted blankets, the Gravity Blanket also uses gridded stitching to further maintain even weight distribution. They don’t mention how many pockets are stitched into the whole blanket, but reviewers confirm the Gravity Blanket doesn’t tend to bunch up overnight.
The inner layer of the blanket is made of 100% cotton. It’s a renewable resource and quite soft to the touch. Of course, materials like the lyocell or bamboo in other weighted blankets are also sustainable while being a bit more breathable than cotton. Indeed, many reviewers mention that the Gravity blanket tends to sleep quite warm.
Gravity Sizes & Weights
Gravity offers three weight options for their blankets: 15, 20, and 25 pounds. It’s relatively simple to choose between them because all three weights come in the same size: 72” x 48.” That’s just a bit smaller than a standard Full size bed. Their “Queen/King'' size is 90” x 90” will fit most larger beds. That size only comes in a 35 pound weight.
Note that the “Queen/King” size is an average, so it’ll likely be a bit too big on a queen, and won’t cover the edges of a king. Also, if you’re a larger person, the Queen/King size is likely your only option for a Gravity weighted blanket.
Gravity Blanket Options
Gravity offers two cover options for their weighted blankets.
The Original Gravity blanket comes with a removable, velvety microfiber cover. One reviewer compared the feel of it to a velour tracksuit. It’s very soft to the touch and certainly checks the ‘snuggly’ box. The cover attaches to the inner layer using either a button/tie or zipper system. Gravity Blankets is currently transitioning to using only zippers for their covers.
The Cooling Gravity blanket comes with a cover made of a breathable, moisture-wicking material. They don’t mention what the material is specifically, but they compare it in feel and breathability to athletic wear. The inner layer of the Cooling Gravity blanket is also different. It’s made of a cotton/polyester blend that’s intended to sleep cooler than the 100% cotton inner layer of the Original Gravity blanket. While this is an improvement, hot sleepers will likely be better off with the Gravid or the Hush Iced 2.0.
Gravity Price, Trial, & Warranty
Prices for Gravity Blankets range from $270 for a 15 lb standard size blanket to $352 for a 35 lb Queen/King size. Unlike Gravid and Hush, they do not offer a bundle version of their blanket with both cover styles. Gravity Blankets is a US company, but they do offer free shipping throughout Canada through their Canadian website.
Gravity doesn’t offer a sleep trial, but they do have a 30-day return window for their blankets. Gravity also doesn’t offer a warranty for their weighted blankets. This makes the return window an important time to assess any defects if you go with the Gravity weighted blanket. Don’t throw away the packaging it comes in if you think you might use it. To be eligible for a return, the blanket must be sent back in its original packaging at the customer’s expense.
The Bottom Line
Clearly, all three of these blankets are solid contenders for a spot on your bed. Each one uses non-toxic glass instead of plastic and a pocketing system to make sure it all stays in place. All three blankets have a standard and a cooling version of their blanket. And all three ship free throughout Canada.
