You like the comfort of weighted blankets, but you want one that won't make you sweat. Lots of companies claim their weighted blankets keep you cool. But with so many options, how do you know which ones work?
That's what we're here for. After tons of requests from our customers, we spent years developing our own temperature-regulating weighted blanket. In the process, we learned a lot about what separates the ones that work from the ones that are all hype. Check out our list of the best cooling weighted blankets that money can buy.
At a glance:
The Problem With Most Cooling Weighted Blanket Comparisons
It can be tough for a hot sleeper to find a cooling weighted blanket that lives up to its marketing. Most people don't know why some of these products feel great and others just feel cheap. And that includes many of the people writing about them on the internet.
For instance, reviews often mention that a blanket is filled with glass beads. What they don't say is that this is true of almost every weighted blanket on the market. It used to be common to fill them with plastic pellets. Now glass is standard, but people still talk about it like it's a selling point.
Fabric quality can get confusing, too. Most cooling weighted blankets use bamboo fibers like viscose or lyocell. But there are thousands of types of viscose fabrics. The same goes for lyocell. And some of them are much softer or cooler than others.
Need an example? The Luna Cooling Bamboo and our own Hush Iced 2.0 both use bamboo-based fabrics. So why does ours cost more? One reason is that our Iced fabric has a special weave and finish to help it shed heat and moisture.
To help cut through the confusion, this article won't waste time on stuff that all our top picks have in common. We'll stick to talking about what makes each one stand out. And we'll zero in on the real markers of quality.
Ready to stop tossing, turning, and sweating in your sleep? Then let's get started. Say hello to the best cooling weighted blankets around.
10 Best Cooling Weighted Blankets
#1: The Hush Iced 2.0
We're not going to waste your time with false modesty. If we didn't think this was the best cooling weighted blanket you can get, we wouldn't have made it. Here's why you'll love it:
Proprietary Cooling Fabric Blend
Our duvet cover uses a groundbreaking bamboo fabric to pull heat away from your body. Instead of trapping warmth under the covers, it releases it into the air.
Some of that cooling action comes from its moisture-wicking properties. Microscopic pores in the fabric draw sweat away from your skin, then let it evaporate. And it takes the heat with it.
That's why our weighted blanket won't make you wake up soaked in sweat. You'll stay dry even on hot summer nights.
We also use a loose, lightweight weave. You can't tell from looking at it, but our cooling cover is full of tiny gaps to let air flow through. This breathable fabric helps keep you from heating up.
All bamboo viscose has some cooling properties. That's why it's so common in cooling weighted blankets. But the stuff we use in the Hush Iced 2.0 is the coolest bamboo fabric in the world.
We obsessed over every detail while making it. We tested hundreds of cooling finishes. We updated our formula again and again. We even learned the best time of year for working with bamboo fibers to be sure they don’t pill. We won’t buy bamboo fabric during the summer because summer heat affects bamboo plants at the molecular level, and makes the fabric less effective.
Our blanket always feels cool to the touch when you slide into bed. And it won't go above your body temperature no matter how long you snuggle.
Even Weight Distribution
Weighted blankets work best when they spread their weight all around your body. With cheaper brands, the glass beads often pool in the edges and corners of the quilted pockets. A weighted blanket won't give you any comfort if 90% of the weight clumps up on your feet or tugs down at the sides.
How do weighted blankets avoid this problem? Some brands also add a sticky layer inside each pocket to anchor the beads. They'll call this a "cotton weave". In reality, it's a blend of cotton and plastic that they blast into the blanket with a spray gun.
This quick, spray-on approach often results in uneven layers. So you'll get a blanket that's off-balance from day one.
The first time we visited a weighted blanket factory and saw this in action, we knew we could do better. We wanted to take more care to get an even fill. And we didn't want anything in our blankets that you have to use a gas mask to apply.
Each pocket of the Hush Iced 2.0 holds a thin slab of real fabric material (no spray guns involved!). The fibers trap the glass sand and stop it from sliding around. We sew each piece in place with no wiggle room, using a specialized machine we had to special-order. It's precise, effective, and non-toxic.
The result? Evenly distributed beads even in each small section of your blanket. Shift around at night all you want. The weight in your blanket won't. It will stay wrapped around you like a firm but soft hug.
Fine Glass Sand
Most weighted blankets - except the really cheap ones - get their weight from small grains of glass. But "small" can mean different things to different people. Weighted blanket fillings can come in a wide range of sizes.
So you won't always know how lumpy a weighted blanket is until you take it out of the box. The size of the beads makes a real difference in whether they clump up or spread out inside the pockets.
As we said above, we wanted the most even fill possible in our cooling weighted blanket. That's why the Hush Iced 2.0 uses glass sand, not glass beads. Because the grains are so much smaller, you can pack more of them into each pocket. That helps them stay spread out.
Glass sand also makes the blanket cooler. The bigger the bead, the more heat it holds. Each little speck of sand has much more surface area for its size than a bead. That allows heat to pass through the glass layer a lot more quickly.
Our Guarantee
We think those standout features put the Hush 2.0 at the head of the pack. And we're confident it can go toe-to-toe with any other weighted blanket for softness, convenience, and comfort.
That's why we offer our 100-Night Sleep Guarantee. If you don't love your blanket after that, send it back and we’ll refund you. No questions asked.
As proud as we are of the Hush Iced 2.0, we know there are other great choices out there. And different sleep products work better for different users. We want to help you find the blanket that's right for you. Here are some of the cooling weighted blankets that impressed us most.
ChiliBlanket
This blanket from ChiliSleep has a one-of-a-kind approach to keeping hot sleepers cool. Water runs through small tubes in the fabric, carrying heat away from the body. It's a little like having a weighted blanket with a built-in air conditioning system.
The ChiliBlanket offers more precise temperature control than other weighted blankets. You can set it to the exact temperature you want. It can even warm you up on cold winter nights! There's also an optional app for setting sleep schedules.
There are some downsides, though. The main one is that it's not self-contained. You have to plug it into a motor to get the cooling effect. If you unplug it to snuggle up on your couch, it's as hot as a normal weighted blanket. And many reviewers say it can be tricky to find the right setup for your bed.
Plus, it's expensive. Even with the cheapest motor, the ChiliBlanket costs about twice as much as the Hush Iced 2.0. It's also not very wide. If you shift around a lot in your sleep, it may not stay in place.
For hot sleepers willing to pay for extra cooling power, the ChiliBlanket may be a good choice. But those who value convenience should choose something else.
Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket
Gravity has been in the weighted blanket game for a while now. Their option for hot sleepers features a removable cover made of faux tencel fabric. It's breathable and moisture-wicking, but there are softer duvet covers out there.
The inner layer is pretty standard for weighted blankets. It's a grid of small pockets filled with glass beads. They're not quite as small or evenly distributed as the glass sand in the Hush Iced 2.0, but they come close.
Gravity also offers three color options. That's a plus if you want it to match your decor! They don't have as many size or weight options as we do, though. For example, their king and queen blankets don't drape over the sides of the bed like ours. So you may have trouble finding the right Gravity blanket for your exact bed or body size.
Gravity's cooling weighted blanket is a solid pick. Those okay with fewer weight options and slightly larger glass beads will find it very cozy.

Brooklyn Bedding Dual Therapy Weighted Blanket
Are you having trouble deciding if you want a cooling weighted blanket or a regular one? The Brooklyn Bedding Dual Therapy might be the answer. One side of the removable cover is heat-wicking tencel fabric, while the other is more plush and warm.
As a bonus, the minky fabric on the warm side has hundreds of small, soft bumps. Those who like fun textures will enjoy running their hands over these fuzzy dots. If you like the feel of both sides, you won't need different blankets for summer and winter. And it's less expensive than many other weighted blankets.
Brooklyn Bedding wants this to be the only weighted blanket you'll need. Maybe that's why they only offer it in one size (60" x 80") and one color (dark gray). True, there are two weight options. But that's still very limited compared to most other brands.
Plus, the cooling fabric doesn't work nearly as well when it's only on one side of the blanket. These moisture-wicking materials work by carrying heat from your body to the air. But with this blanket, the plush fabric will make that transfer much less efficient.

Luna Cooling Bamboo Weighted Blanket
You'll find this affordable weighted blanket from Luna on many lists of great sleep products. There are good reasons for that. Luna's blankets are silky and cool to the touch, exactly what most hot sleepers are looking for. They also come in a wider variety of colors than any other weighted blanket we've seen.
That said, they run a bit on the small side. Luna's Queen-sized weighted blanket, for instance, is 60 by 80 inches. That leaves no overhang at all on a Queen mattress. We think it's better to have a bit of extra fabric to wrap around yourself or tuck in.
The Luna also trades off some durability to get to its low price. Quite a few reviewers mentioned loose threads or glass beads leaking out. And the Luna has larger quilted squares than a high-end weighted blanket. That means the filling can shift around more.
If you need a wallet-friendly choice, the Luna is a solid buy. But be aware that you won't be getting the same premium quality as with other weighted blankets.

Sunday Citizen Bamboo Crystal Weighted Blanket
Glass beads are the most common way to fill a weighted blanket. Sunday Citizen uses them too. But they also add small, rounded bits of crystals like rose quartz and amethyst.
Does this add anything that other weighted blankets don't have? Your answer will probably depend on your feelings about holistic healing. If you find that crystals make you feel more relaxed and centered, you'll love the Sunday Citizen.
There's a lot to love about this blanket, even if you're skeptical about the power of gemstones. The removable duvet cover has an elegant, silky look that will go great in almost any room. And the weighted insert has very small squares to keep the filling nice and even.
We'll add one small note of caution: Sunday Citizen's cooling bamboo weighted blanket hasn't been on the market very long. That means we don't have as many customer reviews to go by. You'll be taking a bit of more of a chance on this one.

Baloo Weighted Blanket
Like all of Baloo's sleep products, this weighted blanket is all-natural. It contains no synthetic fabrics, only glass beads and cotton. And it ships in plastic-free packaging.
Cotton doesn't have quite as much cooling power as the proprietary materials we use in the Hush Iced 2.0. Those in warmer climates may need something that traps less body heat. But many hot sleepers still say that they like Baloo's breathable cotton.
Thanks to its all-natural approach, the Baloo weighted blanket is fully machine washable. Most weighted blankets can't go through the laundry. But you can pop this one right in the wash. Just remember that the heavier weight options may be harder on your machine.
Should you get the Baloo Weighted Blanket? It depends on how much you value going all-natural. Synthetic fibers have stronger cooling properties. But the difference isn't huge. If you're passionate about eco-friendly shopping, this might be the weighted blanket for you.
YNM Cooling Weighted Blanket
Here's another good pick for those who need a less expensive blanket. YNM's cooling weighted blankets cost less than almost anything else on our list. Luna has some cheaper options, but YNM gives you a bigger range of sizes and weights.
Keep in mind that you're not going to get a premium item for a budget price. Many reviewers talked about the beads pooling at the edges of the YNM weighted blanket - or even leaking out.
And if you get a duvet cover, you may find that the blanket slides around inside. There are only a few ties to hold it in place, so it can bunch up.
On the plus side, even the YNM's critics agree that it's cool to the touch (at least at first) and will hug you nicely. The price point is hard to beat, too. Just pay attention to the return window in case you get unlucky and receive one with poor stitching.

Bearaby Tree Napper
The Bearaby Tree Napper isn't like any other weighted blanket you've seen. There's no duvet cover and no glass beads. All the weight comes from a chunky knit weave made with natural eucalyptus fibers. This attractive homespun look makes it stand out from the crowd.
Since all the weight comes from the fabric, you never have to worry that it won't be evenly distributed. There are no beads or pellets to slide around. The eucalyptus fabric will wick up moisture to fight sweat and reduce heat, much like a bamboo weighted blanket.
However, the Bearaby isn't as breathable as you might think from the big gaps in the weave. The cables tend to squish together, trapping more heat than a more traditional cooling weighted blanket. Hot sleepers may find this one a bit too heavy.
Also, the breathable fabric is machine washable, but it soaks up a lot of water. It takes three or four trips through the dryer to get rid of it all. And the hand-knit style limits your choices. The only way to make it heavier is to add more material. So each weight comes in one size only.
Though it doesn't have the cooling power of some of the items on our list, the Bearaby Tree Napper is cozy and sweat-resistant. And its rustic appearance gives it a unique charm.
Luxome Cooling Weighted Blanket
Luxome offers hot sleepers a few choices when it comes to picking a cooling weighted blanket. Some have removable covers, while others have built-in cooling material. You can also go for a half-and-half style with one side made of soft minky fabric.
Unlike most weighted blankets, these ones are fully machine-washable. This added convenience is one reason the Luxome has so many fans. You can't do this with their bigger blankets, but anything 18 pounds or less is fair game.
(For the record, we recommend spot treatments for most spots on Hush blankets, but your Hush blanket will stand up to gentle machine washes.)
The Luxome also has a clean, understated style with a few attractive color choices.
The minky fabric does reduce the temperature-regulating ability. Yes, you'll be cooler if you sleep on the bamboo side. But it still traps more heat than a typical cooling weighted blanket.
If you only run a little bit warm at night, the half-plush blanket could be a good all-season choice. Otherwise, go with one of Luxome's other options.

What Makes a Weighted Blanket Cool and Comfortable?
We know we've just thrown a lot of options at you. If you're wondering how you'll ever be able to choose, don't worry. We're going to review the main factors you should consider as you shop. Here are the qualities that make a great cooling weighted blanket.
Fabric
Every cooling weighted blanket uses some kind of temperature regulating fabric. The only exception we've seen is the water-cooled ChiliBlanket. In general, though, cooling blankets work because of their materials.
Lots of companies like to throw around technical terms like viscose and lyocell when talking about their cooling fabrics. The trick is that these materials come in thousands of varieties. All of them disperse moisture and heat better than cotton. But how do you know whether one kind of lyocell is better for hot sleepers than another?
The only way to be sure that one blanket will hold less body heat than another is to try it yourself. That's why we offer our 100-night guarantee. We want you to experience the way our proprietary Iced fabric stays cool the entire night.
Filler
Weighted blankets are heavy because they're filled with glass beads. Some cheaper ones use plastic pellets, but we left those out of our review. They trap more heat and don't spread as even. But even if you stick to micro glass beads, size matters.
Smaller beads have less mass relative to surface area. That means they can disperse your body heat faster. The tiny grains of glass sand that we use in the Hush Iced 2.0 release warmth much more quickly than bigger glass beads.
Weight Distribution
The size of the filler material isn't the only thing to think about. You also need to know whether it will bunch up or stay spread out. With cheaper weighted blankets, beads may pool in the corners or clump at the edges.
Many weighted blankets try to solve this problem by keeping their beads in a grid of small pockets. This helps, but the filler can still clump up within those pouches.
The Hush Iced 2.0 layers each pocket with a membrane of cotton fibers to trap the glass sand in place. This keeps them steadier and more evenly spread, even within the pockets.
This doesn't just make the blanket less lumpy. It also makes it better at keeping you cool. Fewer clumps of beads means fewer spots for heat to build up inside the weighted insert.
Size and Weight Options
There's no such thing as the best weighted blanket. There's only the best one for you. So why do so many sellers offer such a small selection of sizes and weights?
We want to give you as much choice as possible. You can get the Hush Iced 2.0 in weights ranging from 12 to 35 pounds. In general, you'll be comfortable with a blanket that's 10% of your own body weight. But if you want something lighter or heavier, bigger or smaller, we've got you covered.
At the end of the day, your personal preference is what matter. Want a small throw blanket with some comforting weight? We've got it. Want something big enough to drape over you in your California King bed? We've got that too.
We're generous with the material, too. A weighted blanket should be able to wrap around you with room to spare. That's why ours are larger than competing blankets with the same weight.
Get the Comfort of a Weighted Blanket Without the Heat
Any of the weighted blankets above will hold you tight, but Hush's will keep you cooler than the rest. The fine glass sand and wispy cotton membranes make our blanket's weight feel even and steady. And our powerful temperature-regulating fabric stops hot sleepers from roasting.
Still, only you can decide which one is right for you! We hope we've given you a better idea of what to look for in a cooling weighted blanket. If we've made it easier to find one you love, we've done our job.
